Game Levels Portfolio - University Deathmatch

This game level is based on the main atrium at the University of Derby. It might come to you as no surprise that this game level was indeed one of my university asignments. This was my first real attempt at making a game level.

For the assignemt students were required to work in pairs (a group of 2). For my assignment I teamed up with fellow Digital Entertainment student William Mo. We were then given a choice of landmarks, both real and fictional, and had to choose one landmark to base the game level on. Myself and William chose the University of Derby atrium.

The game level was made using UnReal Editor "Runtime" version, but we also had to use other software packages in order to make other things for the level. In the case of our level some of the textures were made and/or edited in Photoshop and Paint, although we first had to take most of the textures using a digital camera. We used 3D Studio Max to make the 3D models (also known as static meshes). The 3D models made for this level were chairs and tables, litter bins, heaters, and a barrier grille.

One of the requirements of the assignment was that the game level had to include game features such as lifts, so we decided to replace the staircases with lifts. Just for good measure we added a third lift taking players from the lower level to the upper level.

One unique feature was included in the level, a tunnel linking the entrances/exits to B-block, E-block, N-block, and T-block.

Here are some images from the level. Click on an image to enlarge it (opens in a new window). Please note the images may take a while to load due to the size of them.
